ARCHIVING OUR HERITAGE

The Waiwera Society is looking into the roots of New Zealand's history.

Specifically, we're acquiring and promoting material related to thermal activity and cultural heritage. An important part of the acquisition process is in bringing light to not only the European involvement in the development of thermal and water-based enterprises, but also that of the pre-European populations.

There is an array of literature about Maori usage of the thermal water activity in New Zealand before colonisation, and we seek to uncover and publicise this, as an intriguing yet somewhat unknown part of our history.
